20 Developer Meetups To Watch Out for in April and May

Attending in-person developer events can be a great way to network, find new collaborators for projects, or simply hang out with people who share an interest in all things technology. 

Thanks to Meetup, there are several free and affordable spaces for developers to meet and connect in-person. Some are run by, or at least sponsored by bigger organisations, while others are purely private and volunteer-led. Here’s a curated list of our favorite in-person developer Meetup events to watch out for in April and May. 


 

Bay Area Meetups

LLM/AI Application Developers Yacht Kickback

The DevSecAI Innovators Club hosts weekly in-person meetups on dock G-14 at the San Francisco Marina Yacht Harbor. Starting April 7 and throughout April and May, DevSec and AI enthusiasts are welcome to sign up and attend for free. Local drinks sponsored by StreamDeploy are available, and BYOB is encouraged.

 

AI for Developers #13

This is the free monthly AI for Developers event hosted by SF Bay Area AI User Group. It’s ideal for anyone looking to know more about how to incorporate AI technologies like ChatGPT and Codex into their development processes. The May 1 event will feature talks by experts from UiPath, Activeloop, and Meta, followed by a networking session. 

 

Alameda Web Development Co-Working

When: Every Saturday and Sunday from 12:00PM to 5:00PM

Hosted by the East Bay Web Development Co-working group, this is a weekly meetup that seeks to create an inclusive, structured environment for web developers to get more done on the weekends. There will be work sessions of 25 minutes, followed by a 5-minute break, plus two longer breaks to chat and mingle. Attendees have the option to draw lots and be assigned an accountability buddy, with whom they can check in during the 5-minute breaks. The April meetups kick off on April 6.

AI-Driven API Development and DevX

This free event is ideal for those interested in learning how to incorporate AI into API development. There will be a talk by Pooja Mistry of Postman on how to use Postbot, the AI pair programmer, as well as a talk by Adele Ali of APIMatic on how to develop hallucinations-free code to integrate APIs. This will be followed by drinks and networking. 

 

Seattle Meetups

Seattle Women in Tech Regatta 2024

This is the 8th edition of the annual Women in Tech Regatta (WiT). Attendees can access a wide range of activities, workshops, events, and panels geared towards fostering positive change and greater diversity in the tech industry. It’s also a great way to connect with peers and mentors. All attendees are welcome, regardless of gender, job function, or career level. Playing with Data Mini-Conference

Hosted by Seattle PyLadies, this is a free community event that brings multiple local tech groups together for an evening of networking and knowledge exchange. It’s ideal for data science enthusiasts of all backgrounds who want to understand how best to apply tools and languages to refine the data analysis and management process. There will be two workshops and two talks by tech leaders, as well as free beverages, candy, and cake. Paid parking is available on the premises. 

 

Beers with Engineers

This is a monthly in-person meetup for Seattle-based tech enthusiasts, especially those interested in IT and emerging technologies. It offers a good opportunity for developers of all ages and experience levels to talk shop or simply mingle. The May meetup is on May 2. Seattle JS Monthly Meetups

This is the monthly meetup hosted by Seattle JS, and includes talks by web developers and plenty of networking opportunities. Programming Night

Hosted by the Puget Sound Programming Python group (PuPPy), this is a meetup for Python enthusiasts of all levels. Attendees are welcome to bring their current Python projects, share their thoughts about Python, or seek help with something specific, as long as they bring their own laptop/work device. Atlanta Meetups

Atlanta Computer Club DOT Com Monthly Meetups

New York Meetups

NY Tech & Professional Outdoor Networking Event

Starting and Building a Career in Data

Mindstone NY AI Meetup

This is a free event that gives attendees an immersive look at the many cutting-edge applications of AI today. There will be demos, talks on how to apply AI practically, and networking opportunities over food and drinks. NYC Code and Coffee 56 @ The Yard Gowanus

Hosted by New York Code and Coffee, this is a free and informal coworking session for tech enthusiasts of all skill levels. At the start of the event there will be a standup intro circle where attendees mention their name and whether they are looking for specific help or can help others with something. Afterwards, attendees are free to either network and socialize or work on their personal projects. First SAP Meetup New York City

This is the inaugural NYC meeting of the public group SAP Meetup. The goal is to create an active SAP community where enthusiasts from all backgrounds can discuss the latest SAP news.  The location is a unique one too, with craft beers available for purchase as you play vintage video games.
